Christo & Jeanne-Claude and Artsy

About a year ago, we reported on The Floating Piers, Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s participatory installation in northern Italy. As with their other public projects, The Floating Piers was temporary, removed last July. If you want to keep up with the artists or purchase some of their work, check out Artsy.net.

“Artsy’s mission is to make all the world’s art accessible to anyone with an Internet connection.”

All you need is a mouse and keyboard – or the Artsy app – to view 500,000 works of art from 50,000 artists. More than half of the pieces are for sale, including about twenty from Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Artsy partners with museums and galleries around the world to display works of art, to educate the viewer and, for the collector, facilitate sales. It is an easy-to-navigate resource for art lovers, students and casual viewers, art patrons and collectors.

Artsy is also working on its Art Genome Project, a classification system connecting artists, artworks, architecture, and design objects through history.
