Organic Agriculture Report

California recently joined Oregon, Washington, Colorado and other states by making legal the sale and use of marijuana for no purported medical reasons. Whether this will eliminate the surreptitious growers illegally using private and public land and who poison the ground and water with chemicals and trash and divert water from streams in the midst of serious drought… well, we’ll see.

Consumers may drive product improvement by spending their money on quality, organic weed. The fourth annual Emerald Cup, held in Sonoma County California disqualified several winners after pesticide residue was discovered. This is the second year the competition tested for chemicals in the samples submitted for judging. About twenty-five percent of the entries contained pesticides.

No word if Sonoma wine judging will begin testing for chemicals.
