Best view we’ve had last year was from the Holiday Inn Express in Astoria. The view is of the Columbia River, the Astoria-Megler Bridge and the passage of huge freighters from all over the world gliding silently by going upstream or headed out to sea. Sunsets are magnificent. Also you can step out the river facing lobby door, get on a little tram and ride over to the Maritime Museum, cross the hiway and go to the Bow Picker for the best fish and chips on the west coast.
