Vacation Planning Ideas

Have you started thinking about your 2017 travel plans, what sights to see and cultures to experience? Hibbing Minnesota is likely near the top of your list. The hometown of a recent Nobel Prize winner, Hibbing was also home to Yankee Should-Be-in-the-Hall-of-Fame Roger Maris, Boston Celtics star Kevin McHale and smarmy sixties singer Gary Puckett.

Hibbing takes its real place in history, though, as where Greyhound Bus Lines began. Its founder, Carl Eric Wickman, transported miners in his seven-seat Hupmobile two miles from Hibbing to neighboring town of Alice (which had more bars). The Greyhound Bus Museum is – appropriately – located in an old bus depot in Hibbing.

June is a good time to visit; the snow will mostly be melted and the mosquitos will not yet have taken over.
